Jewelry may not make for who you are as a person – but they can definitely beautify your attire and mark an important moment in one’s life (such as getting engaged, for example). When a piece of jewelry has a very important meaning in your life and when you have paid quite some money on it, you will definitely want to make sure that it stays “young” for as long as possible. But how do you keep your jewelry cleaner and prettier for longer? Read on and follow these tips:

  • Clean your gold jewelry by using simple dish washing soap. Just pour some of it into a cup, mix it with water and drop the piece(s) of jewelry inside. Scrub well by using a smooth toothbrush (nothing that would leave scratches in any way), rinse and your gold jewelry and it will look as shiny and bright as new!

  • Diamond rings can also be easily cleaned at home. Make a solution from 4/5 warm water and 1/5 ammonia and dip the diamond ring into this solution. Again, rub very gently by using a children’s toothbrush and blow-dry the ring (patting it with a paper towel may not be a good idea because it will leave fibers on the diamond and this will make it less shiny). Also, vodka works very well for cleaning diamonds too (and you should use the same process in this case as well).

Take care of your jewelry and it will last for a lifetime, especially if it is made from high quality materials! Do not use chemicals on it (and yes, this includes common household chemicals) and try to avoid scratching or chipping them. Accidents do happen, but if you pay a bit of attention, you will minimize the risks of your beautiful pieces of jewelry losing their attractiveness in time.
